Course Description

The Bachelor of Arts and Music allows you compliment your passion for music with the breadth of humanities and social sciences. Explore the history, culture or language of the music you're playing, or add to your career flexibility with music through theatre, performance, film or journalism. Polish your talent for music theory and practice while exploring the arts humanities and social sciences.You will receive a rigorous, high-quality tertiary music education, specialising in performance, composition or creative music technology. In Arts you can draw flexibly from a rich repertoire of 40 majors and minors. You may like to concentrate on the history, culture or language of the music you're playing, or add to your career flexibility with music through theatre, performance, film or journalism. Arts is built around deeply enriching experiences, and via your elective units, offers you four Signature elements through which to develop your unique graduate profile: Global immersion, Intercultural expertise, Professional experience or Innovation capability.

Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements *** All applicants must satisfy the following prerequisites or their equivalents. 1. Australian VCE subjects - English - Monash minimum: Units 3 & 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or 25 in English other than EAL. 2 . IB subjects- English- At least 4 in English SL or 3 in English HL or 5 in English B SL or 4 in English B HL. 3. VET Diploma graduates: To be considered, applicants who have completed VCE or its equivalent and who are applying with a Humanities or Social Science based diploma will require an average result of at least 60%. Applicants who have not completed VCE but have completed a Humanities or Social Science based diploma will require an average result of at least 70% Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not meet the admission requirements. 4. VET Certificate IV graduates: To be considered, applicants who have completed VCE or its equivalent and who are applying with a Humanities or Social Science based Cert IV will require an average result of at least 80%. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not meet the admission requirements. No credit is granted for these studies. 5. Higher Education - University - To be considered on the basis of tertiary study alone, applicants who have completed VCE or equivalent will be required to complete the equivalent of one year (48 credit points) of a recognised university degree and will require an average result of at least 60% (including failed units). For applicants who have completed less than the equivalent of one year of study, both the senior secondary qualification results and the units completed will be considered. *** Entire academic record This course uses the entire academic record as part of its selection considerations.
